Based on my own personal experiences in Thailand, I believe that this book, is the best "tell it like it is" document available today on the subject of Thai social life, Thai social culture and Thai customs. This book was written specifically to aid foreign gentlemen who are seeking brides in Thailand. The book explains many of the "must know" details of the Thai social culture and customs concerning dating Thai women, relationships with Thai women and marriage with Thai women, and for that matter, Asian women in general. The author, Bud Knackstedt, knows what he is talking about when it comes to the Thai social customs and culture concerning relationships, Thai families and courtship and marriage and many other equally important aspects of Thai customs and culture. You can learn these things the hard way by trial and error or you can read this book and gain some knowledge to guide you through the process. I personally learned the hard way through trial and error and after reading this book I knew in my heart that Bud Knackstedt's book is accurate and can be a very practical guide for foreign gentlemen who travel to Thailand to find a friend, girlfriend or wife. In Section 1, the author Bud Knackstedt, provides "in depth" information that is not usually covered by the regualar types of travel books found in bookstores today. Bud's book provides much of the essentially necessary information that a foreign gentlemen needs to know when considering a "romantic adventure" to Thailand for the purpose of seeking friendships for the purpose of developing relationships leading to marriage, business partnerships, etc with Thai women or for that matter, Asian women in general. Section 4 of this book is a Personal Profile Questionnaire which is sort of a worksheet or "self evaluation" checklist. At first, I was a little bit "turned off" off to the idea of reading this checklist or for that matter to actually fill out the checklist, but I was determined to read this book cover to cover. If I did not completely read the book how could I fairly review it? So I perceviered and read every word and now I can tell you that I was glad that I read the personal profile questionnaires. Take my advice and be sure to seriiously read the profile section. All of it! You will learn a lot about what you are about to do and whether you are ready to do it and why. By seriously reading the Personal Profile Questionnaire you will be compelled to ask yourself the RIGHT QUESTIONS as opposed to ignoring or overlooking them. As far as I am concerned, the sections (Section 2 and 3) of this book dealing with bedroom talk, "the ONLY Intimate Phrase Book", is okay and interesting, but in my experience, I have never really needed to actually use these sorts of bedroom words, although I do feel that most men are interested to know these words. I know many Thai students here in the USA and they are always asking me to teach them the English version of these kinds of words, so I think that the curiosity is universal. Fortunately, the author does cover many other common everday words and phrases that are useful to the foreign gentleman traveling in Thailand which adds to the usefulness of this book. I want to go on record and declare that THAIS business does not promote or encourage sex. This book does address the issure of sex in Thailand. I want it to be known that by THAIS recommending this book, I do so ONLY because of the Excellent and Accurate Cultural and Social information contained within most sections of this book and particularly in Section One "Being Involved in Thailand, Social Customs and Culture". My recommendation is not based on the bedroom talk in the phrase book section, althought I do think that it is very interesting reading. I do not encourage anyone to go to Thailand looking for sex. That is not what my business is about nor do I imply that by recommending this book. If sex is what you are looking for, you do not need my help to find it. That is something that you will have to do without my help.
