This is one of my Favorites and is one of the Best Bangkok tourist maps and I have personally used it extensively in my travels around Bangkok. This is a really cool map and I am telling you that it is an absolute necessity for any tourist in Bangkok. This map mainly displays points of interest for tourists and also shows the traveler where to shop in Bangkok and even shows you what sort of products are available in certain parts of town such as photographic supplies or wood carvings or for that matter, it shows you where the wood carvers carve the wood. This map shows where the outdoor food places are and the nighttime sidewalk bazaars, unusual restaurants in picturesque settings, where to find antiques, the "Sunday market" which is a massive weekend flea market, golf courses, shopping malls, thrift shops, Chinatown, Thieves' Market and Pahurat. This map also shows where the water taxis can be found and where they stop. Water taxi's, in my opinion, are the best way to travel in Bangkok during the daytime, because you can avoid the traffic on the streets and have a fun and scenic ride at the same time. I personally did most of my traveling using water taxi's because many of the main tourist attractions in Bangkok are located within close proximity to the Chao Phraya River. Once you arrive near a tourist attraction it is only a short taxi ride. I have personally used this Bangkok street map and it is very good map. This Bangkok street map should be used in combination with at least three or four Bangkok street maps. I say to use three or four maps because you will never find just one map that has all of the precise data that a tourist to Bangkok needs. Each of my recommended maps has its own unique qualities that make it a necessity. This map has bus routes and water taxi information. Some of the information is in Thai and English which helps the traveler when asking directions or when taking a taxi, because you can just point to the Thai word on the map as opposed to an object on a map. In my experiences in Thailand, 99% of the time if you show someone a map, they will not be able to help you much because it seemed to me that maps were not something that Thai people were very familiar with. In order to receive information about places, I would recommend that you point to a place on a map which is labeled in Thai and in English. As you can see, the map looks a bit tattered because this is a scan of the map that I actually used while touring Bangkok. I like this map because it is readable and easy to use and it shows a lot of detail that other Bangkok Tourist Maps omit. Almost as important as the quality of the map, is the attached tour guide book which lists names and phone numbers of hotels, embassies, hospitals, shopping, foods (vegetarian food also), credit card companies such as American Express which is important to know in case you lose your travelers checks. The attached tour guide book also has data about Thai culture and customs, railways and buses points of interest. Also, the tour guide book has the points of interest and tourist attractions in English and in Thai which is handy when you are traveling because you can just point to the word and your taxi driver should be able to know where you want to go. To purchase this map you will have to go to Bangkok and shop at the Asia Books shops which are located all around Bangkok including the Landmark Hotel near Sukhumvit Soi 4.
